Allegation against Assam officials
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Taraso ZPM Nabam Eka in a release informed that Assam Forest Officials has allegedly warned the Tallumso villagers under Taraso circle of Papum Pare district of dire consequence, if they do not vacate the land.
He further informed that the officials from Assam surveyed the area and took measurement of the said village today for the obvious reason.
Assam Forest officials had on June 14 carried out an eviction drive at Dullung Ramghat where they uprooted the erected electric poles and carried them away, he said.
Meanwhile, the ZPM vehemently condemned the act of breaching peace agreement and status quo on boundary by Assam officials. He appealed to the Arunachal Pradesh government to intervene the matter.
Registration of football players made mandatory
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: No football players in the state would be allowed to take part in any football tournaments recognized by Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) unless they get registered with Arunachal Football Players’ Association (APFPA), it was decided in a joint meeting of APFA and APFPA at RG Stadium Naharlagun today.
Endorsing APFPA’s player registration initiative for overall development of sport in the state, APFA general secretary G. Doke advised the football players in the state to get registered with APFPA to avail the various benefits and opportunities. Informing that APFPA is affiliated to APFA, Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs and Sports Authority of Arunachal, Doke assured APFA’s all support to the football players association in future.
APFPA president Kipa Takum said that the main aim of his association is to work for the welfare of football players and streamlining football activities for development of the sport in the state. He hoped that Arunachal football would further develop under the leadership of MP Takam Sanjoy as APFA president and G Doke as general secretary.

Annual Review meeting of Tourism dept
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Tourism Minister Pema Khandu has asserted for strict adherence to the Ministry of Tourism guidelines in respect to tourism related schemes.
Presiding over the two days annual review meeting here at Tourism conference hall, the Minister specifically directed the department officers, particularly the district tourism officers to see that all new schemes are routed from the District Level Tourism Development Committee headed by the Deputy Commissioners in the district.
“No scheme should be entertained directly by the department which does not follow the laid down guidelines,” Pema emphatically said.
The step by the department has been initiated in order to decentralize the selection of important schemes for promotion of tourism for revenue generation.
“Prospective schemes and required infrastructures in the designated tourist circuits cannot be prepared sitting in an air conditioned (AC) room without proper field survey,” Pema said while underscoring the need to route the schemes through the District Level Tourism Development Committee (DLTDC) which has better knowledge about their respective district. The schemes forwarded by the District Level Tourism Development Committee shall be thoroughly scrutinized by the State Level Monitoring Committee headed by the Secretary Tourism before submitting to the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, revealed Pema.
The much talked State Tourism Policy is soon to hit the stand as the draft tourism policy has been prepared and discussed thoroughly in the meeting. A similar meeting and threadbare discussion is awaited soon with all tourism stakeholders before placing it in the cabinet for final approval of the government.
The review meeting which had detail discussion on development of tourism was also attended by Tourism Parliamentary Secretary Pasang Dorjee Sona, Secretary Sonam Chombay, Director AK Singh and district officers.
Meanwhile, Workshop for Responsible on Honourable Tourism and Workshop on Home Stay Guidelines are being organized by the department on Tuesday.
Lack of coordination between depts leads to stoppage of work

ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The unplanned developmental activities can lead to serious loss of the state exchequer. In a clear case of lack of coordination between Power and Highway departments, the construction of 132 KV Double Circuit Transmission Line from Hoj to Itanagar has been badly damaged because of the ongoing construction of Trans Arunachal highway.
The project was started on priority basis by department of power to tap electricity from NEEPCO power station located in Hoj, so that power crisis in capital complex is minimized.
The construction of 132 KV Double Circuit Transmission Line from Hoj to Itanagar is being done by M/s Nabam Tullon Company who has expressed anguish over damages caused to towers because of cutting done for Trans highway work.
“The Trans Highway actually has to maintain only the required width of 15 mtr including the side drains. But here we can see that huge portion of the land has been cut for the road. There is already an existing one lane road from Papu Nallah via Yupia, Doimukh to Hoj. So, the Trans High way has to follow the existing road and cut the required portion of the land for project,” said the company in a release.
They further added, “The location of the tower erected by us is at a distance of
165 mtr from road. Despite it, the formation cutting has caused huge landslides and
thereby destroying the tower. Seven towers have been damaged by them. Besides causing
monetary loss to us, they are also causing loss to the people of capital complex.”

Private University to start soon at Ziro
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Come July first week a new chapter in the history of Arunachal Pradesh is all set to begin. The maiden private university of the state, by the name ‘Indira Gandhi Technical & Medical Sciences University’, would start functioning at Ziro, headquarters of Lower Subansiri district, with its inauguration proposed on July 6 next by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.

ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Abralow Memorial Multipurpose Society, an NGO based in Tezu, organized an Environmental Awareness Campaign under state CAMPA at Arun Jyoti School in association with the Lohit Forest Division, Tezu.
Sahil Nijhawan, a wildlife expert working on tiger conservation with an international NGO called Panthera, spoke about the importance of environmental conservation. Talking to the gathering, he stressed on protection of forest for survival of tigers.
“We must stop illegal felling of trees and say no to wild meat to secure the future of the big cat in Arunachal Pradesh,” he said.
Tezu DFO T.Pertin explained the importance of creating awareness among general public, students and other target groups on the importance of conserving environment.
Students planted saplings at various locations and dustbins were distributed to the schools. Art and essay writing competitions were also organized as a part of the campaign to spread the message of conserving forest. Prizes will be given away to the winners on the occasion of Van Mahatsava day celebration on July 7.
Such awareness campaign will also be conducted by the team at various schools in the districts of Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley and Dibang Valley over the next few days.

Implement schemes in transparent manner: DC
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The progress and achievements made in implementation of the various centrally sponsored scheme underSPA, NEC, NLCPR, PM Package, ACA in East Kameng district were reviewed in a district level monitoring committee meeting held at Kameng Hall, Seppa on June 15.
Presiding over the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Tope Bam said such meeting should be conducted in regular interval in order to monitor implementation of project works as per specification.
While emphasizing on the duties and responsibilities of the members of the monitoring committee, he cautioned the project executing agency that every scheme should be carried out in an impartial and transparent manner without giving room for complaints.
Executing agency should not compromise on the quality of works and succumb to any pressure during work progress which may earn bad name for the department, he said. He further said, “It should be our collective efforts to see that whatever fund allotted for the overall development of the district should be benefited to the people especially of the rural areas”.
DPO Vijoy Sonam gave a PowerPoint presentation on the scheme and enquired to the executing agency about the status of the works. He stressed on timely completion of the scheme and submission of utilization certificates and photography etc.
The representative of Gammon India Ltd. informed that 45 per cent of Seppa to Chayangtajo road have been completed and the time frame for the completion of the road is by March 31, 2012.

ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The impasse between the state government and organizations that sponsored 48 hours bandh call is yet to be sorted out.
All Nyishi Youth Council (ANYC), All Arunachal Pradesh Youth Forum (AAPF) and Arunachal Pradesh Abo Tani Clans Youth Organization (APATCYO) jointly warned that it would declare 72 hours Capital bandh call as 3rd phase of its agitation against the government. Terming the state government as weak and mute spectator to the state of affairs unfolding, the organizations questioned why the government was yet to respond to their demands.
Further, the organizations demanded the home department to release its activists at the earliest from the jail, who have been arrested during the 48 hours bandh call.
It cautioned that if the they were not released, organizations would launch ‘jail bharo abhiyan’.

Dear Editor,
Even after Supreme Court ban on Timber Operation, the Timber Mafias in Arunachal and Assam Border are smuggling huge quantities of timbers which are unimaginable.
The timbers are taken to Assam where it is auctioned. Same is cases of cane and other forest products.
The Itanagar Wild Life Sanctuary and the Durpang Reserved Forest has been mercilessly destroyed yet we do not get to hear about any action taken.
We have also seen that the gullible people are subjected to avail sub standard essential commodities.
Low quality medicines, food grains and many other essential items are being pumped at markets least worried about quality and safety of the consumers.
We hardly hear about quality control and seizure of the low standard essential commodities.
Presently, various Companies of Packaged Drinking Water (PDW) from our neighboring states have come up and the PDW are supplied in huge volume which are substandard and contaminated.
But, the state authority are keeping mum and allowing the products to enter without any investigation, test check and quality control. Further it is learnt that the PDW has to pay 12.5% excise to the state Exchequer but it is being sold without paying a single penny to the state exchequer. As a result we will be facing threat of substandard and contaminated PDW and huge losses to State revenue.

Disco lights and other problems
Dear Editor,
I would like to highlight through your esteemed daily some of the major problems of Likabali, one of the oldest towns of Arunachal Pradesh.
Everybody in Arunachal Pradesh faces electricity problem but believe me if you come to Likabali, and stay for a week here, it’s just like the Disco lights.

Secondly, there is Science Stream but no Science teachers. There are quarters for fire brigade but no fire brigade.
The list goes on and on. The miserable road conditions, lack of hostels facilities for students in Govt. Schools, the boundary issue which you all know.
I would like to request our local MLA and Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh to look into the matter and stop testing our patience.

Dear Editor,
I would like to throw light on malpractices that is going on at Govt Schools of
Capital Complex despite provision for free and compulsory education for students
under the age group of 6-
It is painful to hear that same are violating the rules by charging fees from primary school students.
And in some schools fees are being charged from new students seeking admission in Capital region.
Therefore I humbly request our education minister to kindly look into the matter for the betterment of poor students and their future.

Declare results
Dear Editor,
I would like to ask the authorities of Education Department, East Siang why they are reluctant to declare the results of UDC, LDC and peon, despite repeated requests made by the candidates?
There are many well educated unemployed youths in the district, who are waiting for government jobs. Such delays frustrate the students as they fear political interference in appointment of candidates.
Therefore, I sincerely make an appeal to the authorities of the department to select only those candidates who really deserve and are competent.

Dear Editor,
This is regarding the CBSE XII results of our school. It was very painful to see that only one student out of 20 students of science stream could pass it. The dreams and expectations were shattered. This is not a result to be expected from a Navodaya School.
Parents admit their child with great hope that he/she would one day come with flying colours but after this disappointment one can only imagine what they must be going through.
Earlier people used to have high expectations from Navodayans but sadly the pride and prestige is fading. This catastrophic result is mainly due to lack of permanent teachers and good environment for studies.
For example there were only 2 permanent teachers for science stream.
The temporary teachers forget the duty of teacher; imparting quality education and giving the students right guidance and value. I hope the concerned authorities will do the needful action.
